This hike starts at Eureka Creek, cuts up a short, steep section (the crux) and begins a moderate climb through the tundra. The initial portion is steep, but once it hits the ridgeline, the hiking becomes easier. As the climbing continues, the terrain changes from the spongy, arctic tundra to the rocky, alpine tundra. Much of the hike is rewarded with fabulous views of the Alaska Range and the Kantishna Hills to the north. Approximately 1500 feet in elevation gain and about 6 miles in length can be expected. This hike will return to the Lodge around 3:00PM.
