This hike follows an old mining road along Moose Creek, which winds its way through a large glaciated valley. Moose Creek valley holds some historical significance: this is the valley that many of the gold miners traveled during the Kantishna gold rush of 1905. Beautiful creek overlooks, an abandoned beaver pond and animal tracks are among the features that are experienced. There is little elevation gain and the road offers a great stroll through the tundra without the tricky walking found on the tundra itself. The hike is approximately 4-5 miles round trip, and usually returns to the Lodge by approximately 1:00 PM.
